01How it all began
From one idea to KINGU
KINGU started with an idea nurtured for almost ten years — to create our own American Fried Chicken concept in Latvia. The Covid period became the moment to finally turn that idea into reality. From day one the thought was simple — make street food the way we'd want to eat it ourselves. With bold flavours, quality products, our own character and a different take on street food in Latvia. We've always been inspired by the world's street food culture — from Berlin Döner to American chicken cooking. But KINGU has never been a copy. We take ideas, experiment and remake them our own way.
KINGU is a story about American and Berlin cuisine meeting on the streets of Riga. At first it might seem incompatible, but it's exactly this combination that created the brand and kitchen our guests have known for years. From a small team and owners who stood in the kitchen themselves, to several locations in Riga and the ambition to build street food at a European gastronomy level right here in Latvia.

02What KINGU is today
More than a kebab
Today KINGU is several projects in Riga, our own team, our own kitchen and ever more ideas we want to realise. We make kebabs, chicken dishes, burgers and other street food, but the KINGU story has never been only about food.
KINGU is also street culture, hip-hop, music and the energy that lives in us and our places. It's the atmosphere, the people, the visual style and the will to always do a little more than expected.

KINGU is made by people
KINGU has never been just a name above the door. It's made by the people who cook every day, serve guests, solve problems, create ideas and keep it all moving. Some have been with KINGU from the very start, others joined later, but each leaves their mark on what KINGU is today.
What matters to us isn't only experience, but also attitude, energy and the will to grow together. Because good food can be made from a recipe, but a good place is made by people.

05Where we're headed
The story continues
KINGU has never been a finished project. We keep growing, changing, creating new dishes, developing our places and looking for ideas none of us has realised yet.
Our ambition isn't simply to get bigger. We want to get better, bolder and to keep building KINGU so it's recognised not only for its food, but also for its culture, attitude and character.
If in a few years KINGU looks different than today — it means we're still moving forward.
